Winner of the Week: Week 2

It’s hard to select a Winner of the Week after the Philadelphia Eagles Week 2 performance. But, while there are many negatives that this team can learn from, I think it is also important to acknowledge the positives. My Winner of the Week is WR Quez Watkins.

Yes he only had 2 catches and yes 91 of his 117 yards came on a single catch in the 2nd quarter. But he’s my winner of the week for what he is able to provide this team moving forward.

The speedster has an ability to take the top off of the defense. This will certainly help the running game as well as other receivers get open. Also, big play ability is a huge asset. Whether it’s to catch the defense off guard or keep them honest, build momentum, or get your team back into the game, it is an element that I think all offenses should equip themselves with.

This is a weapon that has seemingly been missing from the Eagles arsenal since DeSean Jackson. I am excited for the 23 year old and curious to see how the offense can continue to utilize his skill sets.

Congratulations to Watkins who logged his first career 100-yard game, and look for him to continue to make an impact on the field, whether or not the ball is in his hands.
