Week 5 Preview: PHI @ CAR

Week 5 will see the Philadelphia Eagles traveling to Charolette to take on the Carolina Panthers . Both teams are coming off of high scoring losses.

On the offensive line, the birds will be without Lane Johnson for the second game in a row, however, Jordan Mailata will be returning from injury.

The Eagles defense has struggled against the run as of late, giving up over 100 yards on the ground to running backs in back to back weeks and a set of touchdowns. If star running back Christian McCaffery is set to make his return on Sunday, then it could be a long day for the Eagles. As of now, CMC is listed as doubtful.

Philadelphia will also have to deal with opposing QB Sam Darnold who has seemingly revived his career, like many do after escaping the clutches of coach Adam Gase. Darnold has had a fantastic first month of the year. Keep an eye on him around the goal line, as he leads not only all QBs, but all players in rushing TDs.

Offensively the Eagles can continue to do their thing. I still hope that they look to get Miles Sanders more touches, especially around the goal line.

This is a very important game early in the season for the birds, as it will set a tone for the remaining first half of the season. On schedule, the Eagles have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a short week and the 3-1 Vegas Raiders, before they get a breather against the Detroit Lions. It is critical for the Eagles to get a win to build some momentum heading into those games.

As important of a game as this is, it is also one that the Eagles can win. Unlike their previous two matchups, this is one where Philly has the ability to simply outscore their opponent. And I think they do 31-24.

What do you think of this matchup?!
