Week 1: Atlanta Falcons

These two birds always find a way to fly into each other. They have faced off in the Eagles home opener in 2018, a week 2 matchup in 2019, and who can forget that divisional playoff matchup in 2017 sparking the Eagles run to the Lombardi trophy. Needless to say, these two teams have history.

Another storyline to watch is second year QB, Jalen Hurts vs veteran Matt Ryan entering his 14th NFL season. It will be really cool see two generations of football players battling it out. Perhaps footballs won’t be the only thing being passed this afternoon…torches perhaps?

Speaking of new generations, two guys I wanna watch are 4th overall pick Kyle Pitts and 10th overall pick DeVonta Smith. Two guys who could be battling it out for ROY. I expect a good game from both, as neither defense has proven to be stout in recent years. The Eagles are especially susceptible to the TE position. Look for Pitts to find the end zone today. I do not expect the same for Smith. Although I do think he eclipses the 100 receiving yard mark.

Finally, let’s get to the winner. I’ve got the Philadelphia Eagles winning 30-27. I expect a high scoring affair as I alluded to earlier. I think the Eagles win because of one man in particular. Jalen Hurts. I think Hurts will throw for 250+ yards, rush for 100+ yards, throw at least one touchdown and rush for another. I think Eagles fans will walk out of Lincoln Financial Field with a lot of hope for their football team and new, potential franchise quarterback.
